Toothache or Broken Tooth? That’s What We’re Here For!
For all the amazing things that can be done with modern dentistry, like cosmetic treatments and the replacement of missing teeth, without a doubt the most important thing we do is what we have been doing ever since there were dentists — relieving pain and infection. Dental emergencies like toothaches, abscesses, and broken teeth have always frustrated people, mostly because they can seem to come on without any warning. There is a very true saying that “It is easy to forget about your teeth until you have a problem with one…and then it’s hard to think about anything else!”
Dental emergencies of all sorts can come up at the most inconvenient times. It is almost as if some teeth ‘know’ just when you are about to go on vacation or have something big going on at work, or even just in the middle of the night on a weekend. While we don’t love toothaches, we do love helping people to get out of pain. If you are experiencing a:
- gum abscess
- broken tooth
- swollen jaw
Or if you are experiencing any other kind of dental emergency, please call our Galloway, OH dental office! We make every effort to see all emergencies promptly.
Where do I Start? Are you Just Going to Refer Me to Someone Else?
When you are having a dental emergency, our main goal is to figure out exactly what is going on and how we can get you back to feeling better. We try to make this appointment quick and easy for you. We do a gentle exam to discover the source of the problem (with no guilt-tripping!) and if there is something we can do to give you some relief then we always try to make it happen on the same day. Other times, if your problem is complex or you have something in your schedule that you can’t miss, we can get things stable enough to allow you to come back for treatment on a day that is more convenient for you. In most cases, we can treat your dental emergency right in our office, as we routinely perform emergency procedures like dental extractions, wisdom tooth removal, and root canal treatment. If for some reason your problem does require a specialist we will get you pointed in the right direction.
What is it all going to cost?
When you’re having a dental problem it can be a pain for many reasons, but just like when your car breaks down a common source of frustration is the unexpected cost. When you first come in our goal is to keep things simple and focus solely on what is bothering you at the moment. We make sure you are aware of any charges at the time of your visit. We can often keep the cost of managing your pain low so that you can have a little time and space to think about what you want to do long-term. You will leave that day with a detailed estimate of all your options to fix the problem and what amount your dental insurance will cover. We will make sure that saving or fixing a particular tooth makes sense, and if it is not possible then we will tell you so. More importantly, we won’t try to talk you into lots of complicated treatment on other teeth. Later, when you’re out of pain, there will be time to talk about any other issues going on in your mouth.
How Long Will It Take to Get In?
Dental emergencies come on suddenly, so we make every effort to get you seen quickly. We keep extra rooms open here at Galloway Smiles so that we can almost always find a spot for people with unexpected dental problems! If you’re suffering from a dental emergency please call our office and we’ll do our best to get you feeling better again.
